The
value of ITK in South Sumatra Province in the fourth quarter of 2019
was 107.8. This shows that in general consumers still feel an
improvement in economic conditions in quarter IV-2019 with more optimism
than the previous quarter (ITK quarter III-2019 amounted to 101.11).
The improvement in consumer economic conditions in quarter IV-2019 was
influenced by an increase in household income (index value of 108.75)
and volume of household consumption (index value of 109.81) and
relatively no inflationary effect on household consumption (index value
of 104 , 43).
The upcoming Consumer Tendency Index (ITK) of 98.81 means that the
economic condition of consumers in the first quarter of 2020 is not
expected to improve with a level of optimism lower than quarter IV-2019.
This is because consumers hold purchases of durable goods (index
80.92). However, consumers are optimistic that their income will
increase in the first quarter of 2020 (index value 109.02).
The economic conditions of consumers in all provinces in Sumatra
Island, namely Jambi Province, Bangka Belitung Islands Province,
Bengkulu Province, Riau Islands Province, North Sumatra Province, Riau
Province, Aceh Province, West Sumatra Province, Lampung Province, and
South Sumatra Province in Quarter IV- 2019 increased compared to the
previous quarter. Among all the provinces on the island of Sumatra, the
current value of ITK in South Sumatra Province is number four highest.
Nationally, ITK in quarter IV-2019 has a value above 100 (ITK = 107.86)
which means that the economic condition of the national consumers in
quarter IV-2019 is relatively good compared to quarter III-2019 with a
level of consumer optimism higher than quarter III- 2019 (ITK Value
101.03). In quarter IV-2019, the ITK of South Sumatra Province was
slightly below the national ITK. The highest ITK is found in East Nusa
Tenggara Province with 118.58. ITK South Sumatra Province ranks 16th
(sixteen) nationally.
