Abstract

The year-on-year (y-on-y) inflation rate in Sumatera Selatan, May 2024 was 2.98 percent, with a Consumer Price Index (CPI) of 106.45. The highest inflation was seen in Muara Enim Regency at 3.18 percent with a CPI of 106.79, while the lowest was seen in Lubuk Linggau City at 2.51 percent with a CPI of 105.34.
Inflation occurred as the prices went up, as indicated by the increase in all expenditure groups indices, namely: Food, Beverages, and Tobacco Group of 6.64 percent; Housing, Water, Electricity, and Household Fuel Group of 2.02 percent; Health Group of 1.24 percent; Transport Group of 1.64 percent; Recreation, Sport, and Culture Group of 1.63 percent; Education Group of 1.47 percent; Food and Beverage Serving Services/Restaurant Group of 2.05 percent; and Personal Care and Other Services Group of 5.12 percent. Meanwhile Clothing and Footwear Group decreased by 1.68 percent; Furnishings, Household Equipment, and Routine Household Maintenance Group’s index decreased by 1.31 percent and Information, Communication, and Financial Services Group’s index decreased by 0.52 percent.
The month-to-month (m-to-m) inflation rate in May 2024 was 0.06 percent and the year-to-date (y-to-d) inflation rate was 0.67 percent.
